13-year-old dies after DC shooting

WASHINGTON (AP) — District of Columbia police say a 13-year-old has died after being shot in the city’s Northeast.

Police said Wednesday that they responded to a call about shots fired around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Downing Street. There they found a 13-year-old boy conscious and breathing with a gunshot wound.

The teen later died at a hospital.

Metro police say a medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of the teen’s death and that the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
