Man arrested in killing of DC father of 4

WASHINGTON (AP) — Police have arrested a man in the shooting death of a District of Columbia father of four who was an aspiring medic.

Police arrested 33-year-old Christopher Fields and charged him with murder Thursday

No attorney is listed for Fields in court records.

Fields is accused in the shooting death of 34-year-old DeVar Battle last September in the city’s Southeast.

WRC-TV reports (http://tinyurl.com/pzbu3pa ) that Battle had just finished emergency medical training the month before he was gunned down.

Battle’s mother says her son had lived in the neighborhood where he was shot when he was younger but moved away when it got too dangerous. She says Battle sometimes returned to visit friends.

Battle had four sons, who were 5, 7, 8 and 13 years old at the time of the shooting.
