7 injured when apartment deck collapses in Towson

TOWSON, Md. (AP) — Baltimore County officials say seven people are injured after the deck of an apartment building collapsed in Towson.

Rescuers were called to the building Monday evening after the incident at the Colony at Kenilworth Apartments. The deck had been attached to a second story apartment unit. It fell to the ground with people standing above and below the structure.

Officials say the deck fell about eight feet. A witness told authorities that four to six people had been standing on the deck when it collapsed.

Five of the people who were injured are students at Towson University.

A building inspector will be checking the building on Tuesday.
