3 rescued after jet ski overturns near Fort Monroe

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) — The Coast Guard says three men escaped injury after their jet ski overturned near Fort Monroe.

A Coast Guard response boat crew rescued the men following the accident on Sunday.

The Coast Guard says in a news release that the men swam to the Thimble Shoal range towers and climbed on the towers after the jet ski overturned and floated away.

The men were taken to Old Point Comfort Marina in Hampton and evaluated by local emergency responders.

The Coast Guard says a search began after two of the men were reported overdue at Paradise Ocean Club in Hampton. The men picked up the other passenger before the incident occurred.
