Henry Co. man sentenced in slayings of parents

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (AP) — A Henry County man convicted of killing his mother and stepfather will spend more than 40 years in prison.

Media outlets report that 21-year-old Zachary Bailey was sentenced Wednesday in Henry County Circuit Court. He received a total 40 years on two first-degree murder charges, with four years suspended.

Judge David V. Williams also sentenced Bailey to three years on each of two firearms charges.

Bailey had pleaded guilty on Feb. 24.

Prosecutors say he fatally shot his mother, 49-year-old Kathy Bailey, and stepfather, 52-year-old Charles Darryl Fain, in July 2012 at their Villa Heights home.
