Cumberland plans holiday flag display

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) — The city of Cumberland is showing its patriotic colors to Amtrak travelers this Memorial Day weekend.

The Cumberland Times-News (http://bit.ly/1qXWXbr ) reports that 65 U.S. flags will fly this weekend along several blocks of Queen City Drive. The street runs parallel to railroad tracks that carry both freight and Amtrak passenger trains.

Organizer Ed Mullaney says the flags were donated by the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society and erected by a local booster group called Let’s Beautify Cumberland!

Mullaney says the flags will be highly visible to motorists and anyone riding the rails.
