Arrest after assault, burglary of elderly Chevy Chase couple

WASHINGTON – Washington Metropolitan Police officers arrested a Southeast D.C. man in connection with the armed robbery and assault of an elderly man and his wife.

Police were called to a home in the 3700 block of Oliver Street NW in the Chevy Chase area Monday. An armed man reportedly forced his way into the residence and assaulted an 86-year-old man, according to a neighborhood alert.

The man had a gun and demanded money from the resident’s 81-year-old wife.

Police who were canvassing the area caught the man after a foot chase in the 5500 block of Connecticut Avenue NW.

The suspect, 57-year-old Cochise Darnell Hudgens, was charged with first-degree burglary while armed, D.C. police officials say.
