HARRISONBURG, Va. -- A new segment of a connector in Harrisonburg has been named in honor of a police officer killed in the line of duty in 1959.
Media outlets report that the city held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday for the Manuel Trenary Memorial Highway. The east-west connector's new segment is the third of four planned construction phases.
Trenary was killed in an exchange of gunfire with a suspect on Oct. 7, 1959.
