BALTIMORE (AP) -- A former Republican congressman from the Eastern Shore is endorsing Delegate Heather Mizeur, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for governor next year.
Mizeur, who represents Montgomery County, announced the endorsement of Wayne Gilchrest and five current and former local officials from the Eastern Shore on Tuesday.
In a statement from the campaign, Gilchrest cited Mizeur's environmental credentials, calling her the best choice for the Eastern Shore and all of Maryland. Gilchrest says no one will fight harder than Mizeur to protect the Chesapeake Bay and no one else will bring Maryland together to take on tough challenges regardless of differences.
Mizeur is running against Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown and Attorney General Doug Gansler for the Democratic nomination.
