NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) -- A Hampton mental health service provider faces up to 10 years in prison for defrauding Medicaid.

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli says 54-Delores F. Thomas fraudulently obtained about $1.5 million from Medicaid for treatments provided to 66 children at her facility, New Season Clinical Services.

Cuccinelli said Thursday that Thomas falsely claimed the children needed the mental health treatments.

Thomas pleaded guilty to health care fraud earlier this week in federal court.

Cuccinelli says Thomas agreed to pay about $1.5 million restitution to the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services.

She's scheduled to be sentenced in January 2014.

The investigation was led by the attorney general's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
