NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- The Virginia Zoo is offering free admission to federal employees who show a valid federal ID at the gate.
The offer is valid Monday through Friday for the duration of the federal government shutdown.
The zoo is located in Norfolk. The Hampton Roads region is heavily dependent on the military, and thousands of civilians who work for the military have been furloughed as a result of the government shutdown.
The regular price for an adult ticket is $11. Tickets for children ages 2 to 11 are $9.
