RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- An attorney for a suburban Richmond teenager says the young woman has told police she did not have a sexual relationship with a state legislator.
Media reports say the Chesterfield County teenager's attorney, Sherri Thaxton, revealed her client's statement to police Tuesday.
The Henrico County commonwealth's attorney's office has acknowledged an investigation involving Delegate Joseph D. Morrissey, but it has not elaborated on the nature of the inquiry.
The 17-year-old had worked in Morrissey's office. Thaxton said the teenager stated her age on her resume as 22.
Morrissey has declined to comment on the investigation.
An attorney representing the teenager's mother said she knew of her daughter's visit to Morrissey's home and said nothing improper occurred.
