ROANOKE, Va. -- Smith Mountain Lake's 50th anniversary is still two years away, but planning for the celebration is already getting started.
Barb Nocera with the organization Visit Smith Mountain Lake tells WSLS (http://bit.ly/172NfZt ) that the first planning meeting is set for Wednesday at the Westlake Library in Franklin County. The Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chember of Commerce is inviting the public to offer ideas at the 4 p.m. meeting.
Nocera says that in addition to being a historic celebration, anniversary events can have a strong positive economic impact.
