VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- A boat house owner has lost his bid to keep some extensive additions he's built on the property in Virginia Beach.
For 20 years, Tom Treesh had transformed his family's former Chic's Beach summer home into a boat.
The bow of a yacht Treesh salvaged from a Norfolk shipyard sits atop what was once a carport. He's also added masts, decking, propellers and portholes.
The city's zoning board this week rejected Treesh's bid for variances that would have allowed the additions.
Media outlets report Treesh now will have to dismantle much of the house.
