UPDATE 9:35 a.m. 08/03/2013:

The Prince George's County Police say they're investigating another ATM theft that occurred before Friday's thefts and may be related.

The police say they were called to the Xtra Fuels gas station in the 3700 block of Crain Highway at about 4 a.m. on Thursday. They say the suspects used a stolen white Ford pickup truck to knock over and steal the ATM, and that the truck has been recovered in Northeast D.C.

UPDATE 3:45 p.m. EDT:

The Prince George's County Police say that a black pickup truck and an ATM have been found in Northeast Washington. They're working to determine whether it's the truck used in the Fort Washington theft.

EARLIER:

FORT WASHINGTON, Md. - Police in two jurisdictions say thieves stole two ATMs at gas stations Friday, and are looking into whether the thefts are connected.

In Prince George's County, police say thieves rammed a pickup truck into a Fort Washington gas station and stole an ATM. That happened about 3:45 a.m.

Officers were called to the Exxon Mobil station in the 10800 block of Indian Head Highway early Friday for reports of a vehicle into a building.

But police say the officers learned that two people wearing ski masks intentionally drove the truck into the wall of the station, pushed the ATM onto the truck's bed and took off.

Moulton Kim, the owner, says he was in the back of the closed store at the time.

"I called police right away," he told WTOP.

Kim's gas station has been robbed before, but he says an ATM theft like this is a first.

Nobody was injured.

An inspector has been called to the scene to determine the building's structural integrity.

Prince George's detectives are looking into whether the smash and grab is related to a similar crime in D.C.

Metropolitan police say an ATM was stolen from a gas station in Northeast.

The theft occurred around 5 a.m. Friday at an Exxon near the intersection of Benning Road and Oklahoma Avenue.

Metropolitan police say they are also looking for two men in a dark pickup truck.
