DARLINGTON, Md. -- The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Harford County, destroying a barn and damaging a home.

The weather service says the tornado that touched down in the Darlington area early Tuesday was rated an EF-0 with estimated winds of 70 mph to 80 mph. It was on the ground about two minutes and left damage along a 100-yard wide path less than a mile long.

County Department of Emergency Services spokesman Robert Thomas Jr. says the tornado destroyed a horse barn, caused extensive damage to a home and damaged about an acre of corn. Thomas says there was about $100,000 damage to the home. He says winds downed trees along Stafford Road, closing the road for hours. No injuries were reported.
