HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) -- A judge has dismissed misdemeanor charges against a Pennsylvania man accused of throwing away Virginia voter registration forms.
Media outlets report that Rockingham County General District Court Marvin Hillsman dismissed the charges against Colin Small on Tuesday.
Hillsman had dismissed related felony charges of disclosing Social Security numbers in April.
The 23-year-old resident of Phoenixville, Pa., was accused of tossing eight completed voter registration forms into a trash bin behind a Harrisonburg store. The forms were found on Oct. 15, 2012, the last day to register to vote in the 2012 general election. Small was arrested three days.
Authorities have said Small was working for Pinpoint at the time. Pinpoint is an independent contractor that was hired by the Republican Party of Virginia to conduct voter registration drives.
