Baltimore County police investigate train incident

Sunday - 7/14/2013, 6:18pm  ET

MIDDLE RIVER, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County police are investigating a report of a person being struck by a train in the Middle River area.

Police spokesman Shawn Vinson says an Amtrak conductor called authorities Sunday morning and believe he had struck a child on the track near Eastern Avenue and Tidewater Lane. Officers responded and observed blood and clothing along the track. But they have not located a victim.

Police later received a report of a child being taken to a hospital. However, the child's parents are telling police that the child was taken to the hospital for another reason.

Vinson says the train stopped for a time and then moved on. An investigation continues to determine what happened and to locate the victim.
