RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- The State Board of Elections is offering training for individuals or groups conducting voter registration drives.
The General Assembly recently passed legislation requiring the board to provide training for anyone obtaining 25 more voter registration applications. The training covers topics including best practices for completion of the voter registration application, maintaining the integrity of the registration process, prohibited activities, important deadlines, and laws protecting the privacy of applications.
The state board will host in-person training at its Richmond offices six times over the next three months, starting with a session Wednesday morning. Training materials also can be obtained in local voter registration offices, and online training will be available on the state board's website in the coming weeks.
