ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is endorsing Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown in his run for governor.

The mayor announced her support for Brown on Monday in Baltimore, nearly a year ahead of the Democratic primary.

Brown has been working to get a quick start on trying to win the nomination. He already has chosen a running mate, Howard County Executive Ken Ulman.

Brown has been endorsed by Rep. Elijah Cummings, Rep. Donna Edwards and Gov. Martin O'Malley, who is term limited.

Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler, who is expected to officially announce his candidacy in September, has started holding informal meetings with Maryland residents to talk about statewide issues.

Del. Heather Mizeur, a Montgomery County Democrat, is planning to run. Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger also is considering a bid.
