RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- The National Weather Service is investigating discrepancies in temperature readings for Richmond.

The city's official temperatures are provided by a sensor at Richmond International Airport. Weather service meteorologist Larry Brown tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/125vsv7 ) that there have been discrepancies in readings over the past two weeks.

On Tuesday, the airport sensor showed a high temperature of 96. Other sensors showed 92 degrees in Ashland and 93 degrees in Petersburg.

Weather service technicians plan to check the sensor Thursday.
