WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Office of Personnel Management says federal agencies in the Washington region are open despite forecasts of severe weather, but workers will be allowed to take unscheduled leave or telework.
The District of Columbia government is also remaining open Thursday, but giving employees the option to take leave or telework.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in effect through the morning. Forecasters say the thunderstorms may produce damaging winds and a flash flood watch is in effect through the evening.
Non-emergency employees must notify their supervisors if they want to use unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework. The office of Personnel Management says eligible employees may use annual leave, earned compensatory time off, earned credit hours, or leave without pay.
