BOWIE, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say a car crash involving a police cruiser has left an Upper Marlboro man dead.

Deputy Chief Hector Velez says Cpl. Michael Mogavero was responding Wednesday morning to a report of a car crash when his vehicle collided at a Bowie intersection with another car.

The driver of the other car, 32-year-old James Dejay Toliver, died of his injuries. The 54-year-old officer suffered minor injuries and has been released from a hospital.

It happened shortly after 3 a.m. at the intersection of Route 197 and London Lane.

Velez says police haven't identified any witnesses to the collision, but are investigating the cause, including through dash cam video, and trying to determine who is at fault.
