Panel seeking feedback on Prince George’s school system leader

WASHINGTON – New rules are supposed to shake up Prince George’s County Public Schools, and the process to find the system’s next leader is getting underway.

Under a new state law, County Executive Rushern Baker will make the final decision regarding the school system’s CEO after a search committee selects three finalists. Former leaders of the school system were known as superintendents.

The Gazette reports the three-person, state-appointed search panel met this week in Largo, Md., to get feedback from stakeholders on what they’re looking for in the school system’s next leader. A committee member says the panel’s goal is to present candidates to Baker before the next school year begins in August.

A telephone town hall will be held Monday, June 10, at 7 p.m. for residents wishing to give their feedback regarding a new CEO, The Gazette says.

Those wishing to participate can call 855-246-7045, Ext. 21990#. Click here for more information.
