NORFOLK, Va. -- Harborfest organizers have canceled the annual parade of sail down the Norfolk waterfront because of Tropical Storm Andrea.
The parade of sail was originally scheduled for Friday.
The parade typically involves tall ships from around the world and is one of the primary draws for the weekend festival, which celebrates the region's rich nautical heritage. Harborfest organizers say the festival draws nearly half a million visitors each year.
Outdoor concerts that had been planned in conjunction with Harborfest on Friday are being moved to Norfolk Scope Arena. Public visitation aboard charter vessels and an emergency response vessel boat demonstration planned for Friday have also been canceled.
Harborfest organizers say all ships that were scheduled for public visitation on Saturday will open at noon.
