Heavy rains prompt flood warnings

Friday - 6/7/2013, 5:28pm  ET

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Heavy rains have snarled traffic and brought flood warnings as Tropical Storm Andrea approaches the mid-Atlantic region.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 8 p.m. Friday for Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties in Maryland.

The Weather Service has also issued a flash flood warning for Cecil County and parts of Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties. Transportation officials around the region reported accidents and lane closures due to standing water.

The Maryland Transportation Authority is warning of possible Bay Bridge delays Friday because weather conditions will prevent two-way traffic on the westbound span.
