RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- A federal appeals court is reviewing the case of a Virginia death row inmate convicted of killing a Richmond couple and their two young daughters.
A three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments in Ricky Javon Gray's case Wednesday. The court usually takes several weeks to rule.
Gray was convicted in the New Year's Day 2006 slayings of Bryan and Kathryn Harvey and their daughters, 9-year-old Stella and 4-year-old Ruby. A federal judge last year dismissed the 36-year-old Gray's claims that prosecutors withheld evidence and that his trial attorneys were constitutionally deficient in their duties.
Gray and accomplice Ray Dandridge tied the Harveys up in their basement, where they were stabbed and beaten to death. Dandridge was sentenced to life in prison.
