VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- A Virginia Beach teenager faces life in prison for fatally shooting another teen to silence him on a botched robbery plot.
Jabril Jamal Holliday was convicted Wednesday of first-degree murder in the June 2011 slaying of Kody Scruton, a 17-year-old from Norfolk.
The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/11Ew2AV ) reports that trial testimony and evidence revealed that the then 15-year-old Holliday killed Scruton because he refused to participate in the failed robbery attempt. He feared he'd tell police.
Holliday is scheduled for sentencing Sept. 17.
