Man on crystal meth leads Montgomery County police on chase

WASHINGTON – A man who admitted to police he was high on crystal methamphetamine was arrested Wednesday for attempted carjacking after leading Montgomery County police on a chase.

Police officers tried to stop Glenn Vincent Rhoades, 34, on Randolph Road after learning the Honda Accord he was driving had been reported stolen and seeing him cross a solid double line and the shoulder line several times.

Rhoades did not stop for police and instead continued on Randolph Road. After hitting a curb, police say he drove slowly on two flat tires.

Police say Rhoades drive over the curb and into the parking lot for the Loehmann’s Plaza Shopping Center, exiting the other side back on to Randolph Road.

At some point, Rhoades jumped out of the Honda and tried to carjack a Mazda Protege, attempting to push the driver out the car.

Police officers removed Rhoades from the Mazda and arrested him. He admitted he was high on crystal meth.

Two officers had minor injuries from trying to remove him from the Mazda. The 22- year-old driver of the Mazda also had minor injuries.

Rhoades was charged with attempted carjacking, four counts of first degree assault, resisting arrest and about 30 traffic violations.

The passenger in the Honda, Jessica Allen, 23, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, after police found her with Oxycodone.
