Chief of Va. national park moving to new Del. park

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- The superintendent of Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park is leaving to take the top job at a new national monument in Delaware.

The Free Lance-Star (http://bit.ly/11QcGNg ) reports that Russ Smith will become superintendent of First State National Monument toward the end of April. Smith is a native of Delaware.

First State is one of five new national monuments designated this week by President Barack Obama.

Smith has been superintendent of the Virginia park for 10 years.
