NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) -- A Wednesday vote is scheduled on a proposed contract between the United Steelworkers and Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipbuilding.
The proposed 52-month agreement would cover nearly 11,000 members of United Steelworkers Local 8888.
The union says in a news release that wages would increase an average 14.2 percent over the life of the contract. The proposal would cut employee health care premiums by 15 percent.
Workers' pensions and promotional opportunities would be improved.
