CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Democratic officials in Albemarle County and Charlottesville are calling for the resignation of a county supervisor who pleaded guilty to sexual battery.
Media outlets report that the Albemarle County Democratic Party and the Charlottesville Democratic Executive Committee issued separate statements Sunday night urging Christopher Dumler to step down. The county party also said it has removed Dumler from the county Democratic Executive Committee.
Last month, Dumler's fellow supervisors censured him and also asked him to resign.
Dumler has said he won't resign but he might not seek a second term.
He pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge in January. He received a 30-day jail sentence.
