ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (AP) -- A Franklin County kindergarten teacher accused of trying to have her ex-husband killed will remain in jail.
Media outlets report that Franklin County General District Court Judge George Jones denied bond for Angela Nolen on Wednesday.
The 47-year-old Moneta resident is charged with solicit to commit murder. She's accused of paying an undercover state police agent $4,000 to kill 63-year-old Paul Strickler. Police say Nolen planned to pay another $4,000 after her ex-husband was killed.
A co-defendant, 37-year-old school nurse Cathy Bennett of Rocky Mount, is charged with conspiracy. She's accused of helping Nolen.
Both women have been suspended from their jobs at Sontag Elementary School.
A preliminary hearing for both women is set for March 21.
