FRANKLIN, Va. (AP) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is inviting volunteers to help it expand the trail system at Philpott Lake.
Trail work days are held on the third Saturday of each month.
Park ranger Brian Stewart tells WDBJ-TV (http://bit.ly/12YxE7U ) that some sections can be cleared quickly. Others are more difficult because of rocks, roots and other obstructions.
The ultimate goal is to connect all of the parks on the Franklin County side of the lake. The project could eventually add 20 miles of trails.
