Putting the ‘public’ back in PSC

WASHINGTON – A Maryland lawmaker is pushing to “put the public back into the Public Service Commission.”

Maryland Delegate Al Carr introduced bills on Tuesday that he says will provide greater transparency of PSC proceedings. The PSC oversees utility companies.

One bill would require the commission to live stream their hearings, then archive them online for consumers to watch at their convenience. Another bill would extend the amount of time given to the public to weigh-in on rate-hike requests.
