Va. locality gets funds to improve water quality

Thursday - 12/20/2012, 7:47pm  ET

RICHMOND, Va. - Greensville County is getting more than $111,000 for a project to improve water quality.

Gov. Bob McDonnell said the funding is from the Community Development Block Grant program administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development.

Officials say the project will provide safe water and eliminate the use of private wells.

The money is being awarded through the program's Construction Ready Water and Sewer Fund, which helps with public water or sewer service for communities made up of at least 60 percent low- to moderate-income households. The project is expected to benefit more than a dozen low- to moderate-income households in the Blanks Lane community.
