Prince George's new technology chief is ex-Clinton aide

Saturday - 11/24/2012, 1:36pm  ET

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. - A former aide to Hillary Rodham Clinton is now working for Prince George's County, where he has the task of modernizing the county's information-technology network.

Vennard Wright took over earlier this year as the county's technology chief. This week, the lifetime Prince George's resident won unanimous approval from the County Council.

The Washington Post ( http://tinyurl.com/cp8bfz4) reports he's dealing with computer systems that are up to a decade old and is replacing the county's stock of 6,000 desktop computers. A third of those belong to the police department.

Wright is also working to create a 311 call center, which many cities and counties in the region have already put in place.

Wright served as Clinton's chief technology expert during her presidential campaign and Senate reelection bid.
