ORANGE, Va. (AP) - A former official at one founding father's estate will soon be running things at the home of another.

Kat Imhoff has been named the president of James Madison's Montpelier. She'll take over operations at the home of the nation's fourth president on Jan. 1.

Imhoff is the former chief operating officer and vice president of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, owner and operator of Monticello. Imhoff led the team behind Monticello's new visitor's center. She also has served as state director for The Nature Conservancy.

The Daily Progress reports Imhoff's appointment was announced over the weekend during the Montpelier Hunt Races.

Montpelier is a National Trust for Historic Preservation site.
