WASHINGTON - Authorities have retrieved the body of man from the Anacostia River near the 11th Street Bridge in Washington.
Officer Araz Alali, a D.C. police department spokesman, says a bystander saw the body about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday and notified authorities. Alali says the body was found near the river's southeast shoreline.
It was not clear exactly how long the body had been in the water.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.
