RICHMOND, Va. - Fort Lee is getting its own DMV office.
Gov. Bob McDonnell says the Department of Motor Vehicles customer service center will open at the Prince George County military base on Oct. 22. The 1,300-square- foot office will have four service windows and three testing stations. It will be located in the Bloom Building, which is being renovated.
Service will be restricted to people with base access credentials.
McDonnell said Thursday that the DMV office is a way to better serve the needs of personnel at Fort Lee, which has grown substantially because of the national realignment of military bases. Fort Lee is the Army's third-largest training site with a population of more than 33,000.
