ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Maryland's top jurist will be speaking to students at a high school in Annapolis.

Robert M. Bell, the chief judge of Maryland's Court of Appeals, will be talking to students at Annapolis High School on Friday. He's taking part in the third annual "Back to School with the History Makers," a nationwide effort to encourage prominent African Americans to share personal stories with students.

Bell, who is African American, was part of a protest in 1960 that spawned a lawsuit that ultimately ended de facto racial segregation in Maryland. He now leads Maryland's seven-member Court of Appeals, the state's highest court.
