FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) - A Caroline County campground owner faces a proposed $10,500 fine stemming from sewage discharges into the Rappahannock River.
A proposed consent order says Four Winds Campground near Woodford exceeded its permit limit for ammonia discharge due to equipment problems. Separate reports on groundwater monitoring and on the integrity of a discharge pipe also were filed late.
The Free Lance-Star reports Four Winds agreed to conduct a dye test and inspect the discharge pipe for leaks. It also must submit a plan to the state Department of Environmental Quality to address the discharge violations
