Sept. 11 tribute ride roars through Mid-Atlantic

WASHINGTON – Hundreds of motorcycles will ride through the region Saturday morning in memory of those who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

America’s 911 Ride started its three-day trek Friday morning in Somerset, Penn., where one of the hijacked planes crashed in 2001.

Riders entered the D.C. region Friday afternoon and stayed overnight in a Crystal City Hotel. They will spend Saturday morning at the Pentagon before heading up Interstate 95 to New York City.

They will honor those who died at the World Trade Center Sunday.

“It brings back the same emotions I felt,” says one rider at the Pentagon.

“It’s just an emotional ride,” says another.

Last year, approximately 1,500 bikers participated in the commemorative event.
