FREDERICK, Md. - The former director of a shuttered workplace for developmentally disabled adults in Frederick is choosing to stay in jail rather than cooperate with a state-sponsored investigation of the center's failure.

A Frederick County judge on Thursday granted Jeanne Dalaba's (DAL'-uh-buhs) motion to indefinitely postpone a review hearing.

Dalaba has been jailed for contempt since Nov. 13. She's been ordered to repay the Jeanne Bussard (BUS'-erd) Center $51,000 and produce a missing computer and business records.

Dalaba contends the center owed her the money. She denies taking the computer and business files.

She could spend up to six months in jail for contempt. She also could face criminal charges.

The center provided commercial laundry and cleaning services. It closed abruptly in July.
