BERWYN HEIGHTS, Md. - Authorities say a Beltsville man has been arrested in connection with the killing of his ex-girlfriend in Berwyn Heights over the weekend.
Prince George's County police say Andrew Heinz Kugler was wanted in the slaying of 36-year-old Amber Danielle Schinault when police spotted him in a car in College Park on Monday morning. Police say Kugler cut his wrists before being taken into custody.
Sgt. Sonya Rorls, a police spokeswoman, says Kugler was in stable condition. Court records indicate he has been charged with second-degree murder.
Rorls says Schinault was found dead inside her home on Sunday after someone called 911 to ask police to check on her. She said Schinault's throat had been cut.
Court records show Schinault had taken out a protective order against Kugler last month.
