Thursday - 6/21/2012, 12:04pm  ET

RICHMOND, Va. - The voices of soldiers and civilians during the Civil War will be heard again at a multi-media program this weekend at Historic Tredegar, the former armaments plant on the James River in Richmond.

Letters, diaries and memoirs will be read Saturday during a free program intended to illuminate the struggles, hopes and concerns in and around Richmond 150 years ago. The voices include free and enslaved civilians.

The program is sponsored by Richmond National Battlefield Park and the American Civil War Center, which tells the story of the Civil War from different perspectives.

The center's president, Christy Coleman, promises a compelling evening.

The rain date is Sunday.
