Thursday - 4/5/2012, 10:41am  ET

WASHINGTON (AP) - Fire officials say firefighters have rescued several people from a house fire in northwest Washington.

D.C. fire department Battalion Chief Brian Lee says the fire broke out about 6:30 a.m. Thursday on the second-floor of a house in the 1300 block of Locust Road. Lee says four adults were rescued from the single-family home, and all have been taken to a hospital for treatment. He says one person is in serious condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
