Norfolk's Chrysler museum plans major improvements

Tuesday - 2/28/2012, 12:13pm  ET

NORFOLK, Va. - A proposed expansion and renovation project could close the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk for more than a year.

Director Bill Hennessey tells The Virginian-Pilot ( http://bit.ly/zl7jm6) that the project would cost about $20 million. The museum's board is scheduled to vote whether to approve it March 29.

If the board approves the project, Hennessey says work could begin in July.

The project includes replacing the heating and cooling system and constructing a 10,000-square-foot-addition to increase gallery space.
