BOWLING GREEN, Va. - A Caroline County judge has rejected a lawsuit that challenged a permit for a sand and gravel mine.
The Free Lance-Star ( http://bit.ly/yCztpO) reports that Circuit Judge Joseph Elllis ruled that the plaintiffs didn't have legal standing to file the lawsuit. Ellis said the plaintiffs' claims that the mine would damage surrounding properties are insufficient.
A group of property owners and the Friends of the Rappahannock filed the lawsuit against the Caroline County Board of Supervisors.
The board approved a special-exception permit for the mine last August.
Vulcan Materials Co. plans to mine sand and some gravel on property in the Skinker's Neck area of Caroline.
