WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) - The Greenbrier is the recipient of AAA's top rating for hotels for the 36th straight year.

The historic West Virginia resort is one of three hotels in the nation that have received AAA's Five Diamond Award every year since the rating system's inception in 1976. The others are The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo., and JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizo.

The ratings are based on unannounced on-site property evaluations by AAA inspectors.

Michael Petrone with AAA says in a news release that lodgings receiving the Five Diamond Award have "extraordinary physical attributes and meticulous personalized attention."
